Project Library - Book Collection

Prabal and Prem after collecting books at Prabal's house!
We initiated a library project a couple of months ago, in which we aim to establish a library in a remote school so that the children studying in the school will benefit. The project is slowly and gradually progressing in terms of book collection, fund collection for buying furniture and other expenses, locating a needy (deserving) school, and so on. Now, if things go well, we expect to complete it within a couple of weeks.

In this post, I would particularly like to discuss about the progress in the book collection campaign for our library project. I initiated the book collection campaign, along with my friend Prabal Poudel and collected books from friends house during the early time. Prabal and I visited several friends and relatives in Rambag area and collected books along with the visit. That was how our journey started.

We had a very positive response from our friends, teachers and relatives. Our book collection became grand, after we received more than 250 books of varying sizes from our respected Jamuna Giri Madam. More than that, she herself called us to take books from her. We are highly indebted for her generosity and immense support she extended to our book collection campaign. Thank you very much Jamuna Madam.

Getting our update from Facebook, Bhumika Pathak, a BBA-BI student at Boston College and my friend as well, was also motivated to donate books for our campaign. She collected a sackful of books from her bookshelf and even delivered the books to a convenient place for us to pick up. We cannot express our gratitude in words for her enthusiasm in serving the less-privileged members of our society.

Unfortunately we could not take a snap with her and we had to make use of Photoshop.

Books donated by Milan Shrestha
Similarly, Milan Shrestha, a friend of Prakash Sharma who is our dear friend also donated some books right upon being informed by our friend. We also sincerely appreciate his feelings to give.

Apart from these, Prabal and I also personally contributed more than a dozen of books each for this campaign. In fact, we are did that in the very beginning and we had not conceived the idea of taking photographs back then.

We have collected an ample amount of books already, more than 700, I guess. This is a good amount given the limited number of donors. However, we still need to collect a lot of books and we need sincere help from you.

Therefore, we request you all to donate the books which you are of no use to you or your junior brothers and sisters. All types of books are accepted including the text-books, novels, quiz books, reports, and any other types of books that can be useful to school level students.

Thank you everyone for reading this article and extending support for our mission! Have a great day.
